BOOTHROYD INSISTS ENGLAND ARE IN A DIFFICULT GROUP

The head coach of the England U-21s national team Aidy Boothroyd has lamented that his England side have been drawn into a group of death and it will be difficult to make significant progress in the group.


The Young Lions belong in the same group as Croatia, Switzerland, and Portugal in Group D and will face their rivals in the 2021 Euros competition in Slovenia and Hungary. The draw was held on Thursday and one of the top seeds before then included Boothroyd"s boys.

The Young Lions will be gunning for the title as they are yet to lay their hands on it since they last won it in 1984.
Speaking in an interview, Boothroyd said all the teams they have been pitted against are top teams and dangerous to play against. He said their opponents are all made up of tough teams but also added that it is why they qualified - the play against some of the best teams.
He reckoned that it jas been up to 36 hears since they last clinched the title, and even though they have reached the semifinals and the final of the competition within that period.
The Young Lions played against Croatia in a Group C game at the Euros 2019, a game that they drew 3-3 in San Marino. Their forthcoming games will however be played in Slovenia, Domzale, or Ljubljana, the capital.
In their qualifying round of fixtures, England maintained an unbeaten run/ as they went on to win nine games and drew just one to become the leaders of Group Three. With 13 goals to his name, Arsenal's player Eddie Nketiah was the highest goalscorer in the qualifying games.
The.2019 tournament was one to forget for England, as they failed to win a single group match. Before drawing Croatia 3-3, they lost their games against France and Romania.
