Roy Hodgson is certain that Switzerland will thrive

Roy Hodgson used to be in charge of the Switzerland national football team back in 1992 until 1995 and the English manager has recently voiced his thoughts concerning his former national side as he said:

"I've not been surprised at all that they're succeeding. I think the Swiss FA, even from the time when I was there, works extremely well. They've invested a lot of money in young players and they've taken the coaching side of the game very seriously. It's not just the senior team that's done well over the years; it's all the national teams. They will continue to do well in the group because they've got quality players who are playing at the top level in the top leagues around the world. That wasn't quite the case when I started in 1992 or even when I left. We still didn't have that many players at top clubs’’

The Switzerland national football team was able to reach round of 16 in the 2016 edition of the UEFA Euro’s, they were later on eliminated by Argentina but nonetheless, it was still fairly impressive to see Switzerland ending their curse of not making it past the group stages.

Switzerland are currently attempting to qualify for the 2018 edition of the FIFA World Cup and have been doing a superb job as they have managed to snatch the top spot of group B with 12 points from their 4 opening qualification matches. Portugal is in 2nd place with 9 points.

There are 6 more qualification games left to be played and Roy Hodgson is certain that Switzerland will be able to continue their positive start and eventually qualify for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
