HITZFELD HITS OUT

Former Bayern Munich manager Ottmar Hitzfeld has said that winger Arjen Robben should leave the German club Bayern Munich at the end of the season.

Due to the emergence of Thomas Müller, Robben has been unable to get regular first-team football at Bayern Munich this season. He has been one of the best performers for the club over the last three years since arriving at £ 24 million deal from Real Madrid. At 28 years of age, Robben has said that he is not happy with life on the bench. Hitzfeld has said that he does not think that the Dutch winger's situation will not improve next season.

Bayern Munich recently announced that former Barcelona manager Guardiola will be taking over at the Allianz Arena. Robben is known for his individualistic talent, which have often come to the rescue of Bayern. However, Guardiola is a manager who wants a team performance, and he is unlikely to make Robben a first-team regular once again according to Hitzfeld. He has said that Guardiola is likely to see Xherdan Shaqiri as a perfect player for the role currently occupied by Robben on the bench.

As a result, he has advised the former Chelsea and Real Madrid winger to leave the club at the end of the season.
"I think Robben will leave Bayern in the summer. Robben does not fit into the philosophy of Guardiola. A player like Xherdan Shaqiri, who now often sits on the bench, is much more suitable for that. He keeps going and is a good passer. For Robben, it might be better to leave," said Hitzfeld in a recent interview. The former Bayern Munich manager has been able to oversee a good run of form within the Swiss national team, as they have remained unbeaten in the last five matches.
