TIMINGS NOT GREAT

Switzerland manager Ottmar Hitzfeld has expressed his displeasure at the timing and location of the World Cup matches for his team. Switzerland have qualified for the World Cup 2014 and they have been grouped along with France, Ecuador, and Honduras.

On paper, this looks like a group that Switzerland can realistically hope to qualify from since they have one of the experienced managers in the world. Hitzfeld has a lot of experience in the game after having been the manager of top clubs like Bayern Munich.

SWITEZRLAND LOSE TO KOREA

The nation that managed to conclude the group stages of 2014 World Cup without suffering from a single loss as they defeated Iceland, Slovenia, Norway, Albania and Cyprus picking up at least 1 point in each of those matches was Switzerland.

Looking to be like this year’s ‘dark horses’ and underdogs the Swiss have made an impressive statement so far. Managing to step it into the pot where some of the highest ranked nations are currently allocated, expectations are slowly building up for Switzerland.

They did suffer however from a huge blow when losing 2-1 against South Korea in a friendly match on November 15th.

SWITZERLAND vs NORWAY

Switzerland and Norway take on each other in what promises to be a crunch match in the World Cup qualifying. Both teams are separated only by three points in group E, with Norway having the opportunity to overtake their opponents with victory.

Switzerland, though, will be hoping to use the home advantage to at least get a draw from the match, which would be a great result for the team given that it would almost ensure them qualification. There are only a few matches left in the World Cup qualifying campaign for both teams.

GREEKS IMPRESS

The Greece defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos was one of the best players on the pitch after he helped his national team to get a 0-0 draw with Switzerland in the latest round of international fixtures.
