BERNER WANTS WORLD CUP CALL

Leicester City left-back Bruno Berner has not given up hope of winning his place back in the Switzerland side ahead of the World Cup in South Africa.

But Berner, whose goal against Nottingham Forest on Saturday set the Foxes on the way to a 3-0 win, told BBC Radio Leicester time is running out.

The 32-year-old, who has won 16 caps, was left out of the national squad for next week's friendly against Uruguay.

He said: "I'm ready but there is not much time left so it'll be difficult."

Berner's club manager Nigel Pearson has said that the defender is in the kind of form that is good enough to earn a recall.

"I appreciate his words and you never know," Berner said. "But we are very strong on the left side.

"I will be focused on Leicester for the next few weeks and if my country call me up I will be ready."
